BTC USD Bitcoin US Dollar - Investing.com

Square account closed

Hi, I had 2 very hopeful and lucrative days vending bitcoin for visa gift cards. As a person, I believe at least where I am I was allowed to sell up to 20,000 usd (or 200 trasactions) without being taxed.
To paraphrase the laws in new mexico a little bit better:
You do not have to even report anything as long as you keep your volume under 20k usd, and do not exceed 200 transactions. (This point is kinda irrelevant and more just context I guess.)
So thinking I might dip my toe in the ocean,
I made a gross 700 dollars of sales in two days using paxful. (Maybe 10 trades.) I had a great time and hoped this was a new dawn of some kind.
So square froze my account. I was using square to process visa gift card payments. I was able to get some money out in time, but 200 is locked up by square until it will be released in September 2020.
So I still want to do this is some way cause I think it is good. But I found out that to do visa cards you must have a money transmitter license which costs 4000 dollars to apply for with the state.
Good to know. But I'm not gonna trust paxful as the base player of my business just yet.
Be cautious using this platform. You really have to study dumb ass shit that you hate in order to get it right, cause honestly I dunno if I can trust paypal after this experience. The amazon gift card people on paxful never answer. It seems everyone is a scammer.
It's probably my fault for trusting. But I'm going to keep my prosperity mindset.
If you buy btc in exchange for vmvzon gift cards hit me.

First Political Donation from former Trump voter now #YangGang - A guide to convert more like me

https://preview.redd.it/ks6z03rmtim31.png?width=1058&format=png&auto=webp&s=19ba45bdfd76c86918c81a37f99fe4d7cba0cc4e
Hello Yang Gang! You might be wondering:
  1. How did a Trump voter turn Yang Gang?
  2. How did someone who would NEVER donate to ANY political campaign end up donating to Yang?
  3. How to replicate this transformation in other voters in my demographic using social proof and the spirit of our times.
From Trump Train to Next Stop: #YangGang
My vote for Trump in 2016 was more of a vote against Hillary. I won't get into my reasonings, as this is outside the scope of this post. But I'm sure a sizeable percentage of Trump voters voted for him not because they worshipped "The God Emperor", but because they thought a political outsider would actually come in and "drain the swamp" to end corruption and pay-to-play politics in Washington.
Has that happened in Trump's first term? Some would argue yes, others would argue no, but the important point to note here is that still most folks don't really care, because like what Whoopi was arguing is how is any of it going to positively effect my living situation and my community?
The Hook: Some Asian Guy Running For President Is Literally Going To Give You $1,000 a Month
In terms of marketing, this has everything. It's what got Yang on my radar in the first place. This message is a great hook to grab the attention of new potential voters.
Some Asian Guy Running For President...
This has tremendous novelty and speaks to the multicultural nature of America these days, and especially those feel strongly about "identity politics". There hasn't been a viable Asian candidate for president before, so this in itself is compelling.
...Is Literally Going To Give You $1,000 a Month
Here's where the hook sinks in deep, because if this turns out to be true and not a scam (and people do their research when money and potential windfall is involved) people will passionately fight to make this a reality. Why?
Because there is literally no other candidate running who could more directly impact the lives of Americans than one who will actually put $1,000 a month directly into your bank account.
That's a powerful hook, and the YangGang is right to use it as the flagship policy.
The Turning Point: "It's not immigrants, it's the robots."
Andrew Yang talks about the lightbulb moment when he drops this line on folks in person and on stage. Once someone says it to you, and you understand it, it becomes so blatantly, obviously true that you cannot go back to your previous method of thinking. You then realise how stupid building a wall with Mexico is. You then realise that Amazon is the model for future entrepreneurs. You then realise that the income base that the country depends on comes from jobs that will be automated away. You then start wondering what that will do to your community, and the economy as a whole.
Then the Freedom Dividend really starts to look even more appealing!
Truck drivers are not going to #LearnToCode.
Pregnant mothers are not going to work while pregnant (nor should they be compelled to).
But the bills still have to be paid. How is that going to happen if there are fewer and fewer jobs left for humans?
Seriously now, what are the alternatives?
You've seen Trump. You know what you are going to get for the next 4 years if he wins in 2020. The rest of the Democratic field is so weak, so weak it is really really sad. Who would go see Joe Biden speak in public? Who would carry water for Buttigieg? Who would not cringe a single time while enduring a speech by Cory "Phony Douche" Booker? Who would not wonder what presidential power would do to a person like Kamala Harris, who knowingly withheld information that would have set an innocent man free on death row?
Sealing the Deal: Now 100% #YangGang
What sealed the deal for me was Trump's now infamous and awfully misinformed anti-Bitcoin and anti-Cryptocurrency tweet, where he says:

I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity...
This statement is so dumb, but so freaking dumb, that it is mind-boggling to ANYONE who understands the value proposition of cryptocurrency and blockchain based products and services. Fiat currencies (USD, EUR, RMB) are based on thin air. They are literally printed on huge machines out of thin air. USD is the #1 currency BY FAR that facilitates illicit activities worldwide, from money laundering to terrorism financing, to trafficking and other horrible things. Because cash is not easily traceable.
By contrast, blockchain based cryptos have this thing called a "blockchain" (lol really?) in which EACH transaction in HISTORY is tracked publicly FOREVER. Not so good for illegal activity, is it?
Bitcoin and Ethereum are backed by real monetary and computational networks as open, public and distributed systems. They represent a global public good, and so far only Andrew Yang has spoken intelligently about their potential in blockchain based voting.
So, when Trump came out with this tweet, I personally saw droves of Trump supporters ditching him like a bad habit on Sunday. It was shocking. To see diehard Trumpers just get off the Trump Train like that, over one anti-crypto Tweet, was amazing to see. Thinking about it, many of Trump supporters are anarcho-capitalist-libertarians, who believe wholeheartedly in the promise of blockchain. When faced with the decision of crypto or Trump, the decision was easy.
Crypto has a chance of directly positively impacting the lives of these voters. Trump, not so much. So that brings me to my point:
#YangGang should reach out to the cryptocurrency community to gain traction and voters. (More on this further down)
OK, I Want My Grand A Month Now. (How a die-hard non-campaign contributor just threw 10 bucks to Yang, because the investment is ROI positive. It's the MATH!)
If you are an entrepreneur like me, you pay a lot of attention to incentives and game theory. People lie, numbers don't. The reason I say that is because you can gain truer insight into someone's motivations (and future action) by looking at: How they spend their money; How they act in order to gain money; and what they do in order to avoid losing money.
Most people don't donate to a politician's campaign because they cannot see a clear Return on Investment (ROI) from doing so. Even if that politician does get elected, if you aren't one of these mega-doners that got face-time with the candidate to push your pet project pay-to-play scheme, you won't see ROI. That changes with Yang's Freedom Dividend (and Democracy Dollars). If Yang wins, I get my $1,000 a month. My $10 investment gets 100X return in just the first month of the dividend. That's what motivated me to donate to Yang's campaign.

How to convert Trump Train Riders - who are sick of the view and the smell - To Join #YangGang

  1. Hit 'em with the Hook. It's what got me. Tell them about the Freedom Dividend. Pure self-interest and novelty will drive them to do more research. This is the flagship issue, I would say even Yang's "Brand" and it is working so far, so keep at it.
  2. Try to reach Trump voters directly with the hook, and talk about Trump's position on crypto vs. Yang's. An estimated 10-15% of Americans have invested in crypto. This group is very passionate, and they will for sure vote for a candidate that is knowledgeable about blockchain and has a positive attitude about it.
  3. Add more clarity to Yang's policy on crypto assets. Namely: How will Crypto be taxed in the USA? Do you support the Token Taxonomy Act? Will Crypto-Crypto trades be taxed? Is there going to be a de minimus exception? How will Crypto-Fiat trades be taxed? How will purchasing goods and services with crypto be taxed? What about Initial Coin Offerings? Security Token Offerings? Blockchain Based National IDs? Blockchain Voter Registration and Voting? Tokenization of bonds, commodities, and other assets? Crypto Derivatives? I guarantee if Yang clarifies these points he will gain huge traction with the crypto communities, and might just get that diehard 10-15% to vote for him - which would tip the election in his favor.
  4. Start a Telegram Channel
  5. Social Proof Social Proof Social Proof : Elon's Tweet was amazing. If Yang can collect more influencers he can collect more voters
  6. Keep up the ground game: Phonebanking and in-person promotion of Yang's candidacy in key swing states is obviously needed, and it's being done by you fine folks from his campaign. Thanks!
  7. Always be the Adult in the room. Use reason, logic, and facts to defeat opponent's empty attacks. Point out how much of a farce politics are, the that the only candidate who isn't just spouting useless talking points is Yang.
Thanks for reading!

What does currency mean?

It is easy, it is the most loved money in an area.
You can make this experiment, but you don't really have to, because you know the answer already.
You have some mexican pesos paper cash, some usd paper cash, a dollar denominated visa card, and a bitcoin cash wallet with plenty bitcoin cash.
You have your own preferences for what kind of money you prefer to pay with, in this case it would be 1 bitcoin cash, 2 mexican peso, 3 the card and 4 the usd cash. The reasons are your own, but for instance you have a small amount of paper usd, just in case, always in your wallet, but you don't really want to spend them, because then you will have the hassle of getting new ones. What is currency is defined by the buyer and the seller together.
Now you want to buy a beer, and these things would happen:
You find yourself in Mexico, and you ask the server what payments he prefers. He will say mexican peso paper. He could take the dollar paper, but would complain maybe that his vendor wants pesos, so that would be easier, he could take the card, if he had a card machine. When you ask about bitcoin cash, he would probably not understand what it is.
If you do the same in the united states, the waiter would probably prefer the card, next the dollar cash.
If you do the same in sweden, the waiter would say "we only take cards".
So now you now what is currency in those countries.
This one is interesting: If you ask in Bitcoin Coffe in Praha, Czech Republic, you would get this: No Bitcoin Cash unfortunately, but Bitcoin BTC -- and by the way do you have Litecoin? It has low fees.
So in that place, but limited by the walls of the venue, Bitcoin BTC is the currency.

Unpopular opinion: No need for satoshi symbol. Stick with Bitcoin, BTC, and ₿.

What’s being debated is really a deflation-driven re-denomination, but there is lots of precedence for inflation-driven re-denominations:
In a world where satoshis / sats are a useful pricing denomination, it would be clear from context whether denomination is “sats” (new) or “Bitcoin” (old) since there’s eight orders of magnitude difference.
During times of transition (now) there is confusion, but trying to introduce a new named “currency” (since it has a symbol) will only increase that confusion.
Also, I think it’s unclear whether the future “new Bitcoin” denomination should be sats vs bits/μBTC vs mBTC, and if either of the latter are the case, the sats denomination is all the more confusing.
Another analogy would be stock splits. When a company does a e.g. 7:1 stock split, it doesn’t get a new symbol.
My bias is that Bitcoin should be simple for new users and general public, and a new symbol for “sats” feels like a re-branding that dilutes mindshare and increases confusion.
That’s why I think successful re-denominations and stock-splits are useful analogies. As are the perils of re-branding consumer products, with the opposite implication.
Think the best counter-argument (to this unpopular opinion) is that the general public has lots of experience with fractional denominations, with the Latin-derived “cent” being the most common. But even here I think there is trouble because:
  1. While the general public is aware cents, in many countries there are fractional denominations which are only used by specialists and don’t have a symbol. For example in the US the lowest denomination established by law is the “mill” which is one-tenth of a cent and one-thousandth of a USD. Aren’t sats (especially now) more like these specialist denominations?
  2. In most countries, the general public does not use a symbol for “cent”, which is sometimes ¢, and instead just abbreviates the word (“25c.”) or uses a decimal in written contexts (“0.25”).
For everyone passionate about adoption and use of sats, I think it makes more sense to just use “s.” (as an analogue to cents) when working with sats (adding BTC / ₿ if unclear whether you’re talking about Bitcoin), and as Bitcoin use transitions to a new base denomination (whether it is mBTC, bits, or sats), that can become “new Bitcoin” (consensus-driven re-denomination).

End of day summary - 06/03

The Dow rose 4.74, or 0.02%, to 24,819.78, the Nasdaq lost 120.13, or 1.61%, to 7,333.02, and the S&P 500 declined 7.61, or 0.28%, to 2,744.45.
The S&P 500 lost 0.3% on Monday, as shares of big tech companies fell on various reports that heightened antitrust concerns. Lingering trade and growth concerns also helped curb risk sentiment and underpin the strength in U.S. Treasuries. A swarm of buyers in the last 30 minutes of action, however, helped the broader market close off its session lows.
Reports of potential antitrust investigations into the biggest names in technology sunk stocks from the outset and weighed most heavily on the Nasdaq. Those worries, at least for a day, supplanted ongoing concerns about the trade fights that the U.S. is waging with both China and Mexico, though a number of lackluster PMI readings were a reminder that global growth worries have not gone away even if they were not front and center in today's trading.
The tech-sensitive Nasdaq Composite fell 1.6%. FB, GOOGL, AMZN were all singled out in various reports indicating that the companies could face antitrust scrutiny by the Department of Justice and/or Federal Trade Commission.
These companies represent some of the most widely-held stocks in the U.S., and their out-sized losses weighed heavily on the Nasdaq and on the S&P 500 communication services (-2.8%), information technology (-1.8%), and consumer discretionary (-1.2%) sectors. The other eight S&P 500 sectors finished higher, led by materials (+3.4%), to provide offsetting support.
In other Apple news, the iPhone maker kicked off its Annual Worldwide Developers Conference, during which the company unveiled a new Apple Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR, the watchOS 6 operating system for Apple Watch devices, iPadOS with a new home screen and split view, the new tvOS 13 system for Apple TV, iOS 13 with Dark Mode, and a new App Store for the Apple Watch.
BA shares slipped fractionally after the Federal Aviation Administration announced yesterday in a statement that the planemaker informed the agency that certain 737 NG and 737 MAX leading edge slat tracks may have been improperly manufactured and may not meet all applicable regulatory requirements for strength and durability.
Persisting concerns about trade and growth helped restrain buying conviction throughout the day. China blamed the U.S. for the setback in trade talks, which reinforced fears that a protracted trade war will squeeze global growth, and earnings, prospects. Global manufacturing PMI data, including in the U.S., revealed slower or flat growth in May.
On a related note, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard (FOMC Voter) said that slower economic growth could be sharper-than-expected due to the trade uncertainty. Mr. Bullard added that a rate cut may soon be warranted to boost inflation.
Growing expectations for a rate cut, and general growth concerns, helped send the 2-yr yield down 12 basis points to 1.83%. The 10-yr yield declined six basis points to 2.08%. The U.S. Dollar Index fell 0.5% to 97.22. WTI crude decreased 0.5% to $53.25/bbl, giving up an intraday rebound effort.
Among the noteworthy gainers was SMTA, which rose 19.8% after it agreed to be acquired by HPT for $2.4B. Hospitality Properties shares were 2.4% lower after the news. Also higher was EE, which gained 13.7% after it agreed to be acquired by the Infrastructure Investments Fund for $68.25 per share. Among the notable losers was TRUE, which fell 18.7% after announcing the retirement of president and CEO Chip Perry. Also lower was CNC, which declined 10.3% after Humana (HUM) confirmed that it will not propose a merger with Centene. Humana shares were 2.2% higher after the news.
Stocks in Asia were mixed on Monday amid increasing concerns over the state of global trade. European stocks see-sawed Monday, as fears over the current state of global trade remained in place. Sharp early losses were erased during the afternoon session.

Currency

The U.S. dollar fell on Monday after St. Louis Federal Reserve President James Bullard said an interest rate cut “may be warranted soon”.

Treasury

U.S. Treasuries rallied sharply overnight, bolstered by some disappointing manufacturing PMI readings out of the eurozone and the release of a White Paper from China's government that placed the blame on the U.S. for the breakdown in trade negotiations.
The Treasury market has already been pricing in the prospect of a rate cut (or two) before the end of the year, as growth concerns have picked up noticeably amid the trade standoff between the U.S and China, as well as President Trump's announcement last week that a 5% tariff will be applied on all imports of goods from Mexico, effective June 10, if the Trump Administration does not feel Mexico is doing enough to curb the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S.

Commodity

Oil futures ended the session lower after back-and-forth trading on Monday, as Saudi comments indicating OPEC would extend supply cuts supported prices. Gold climbed more than 1.5% on Monday to its highest level in more than three months on concerns that U.S.-Chinese trade tensions and Washington’s threat of tariffs on Mexico would hurt the global economy.
July Natural Gas settled $0.05 lower (-2.3%) at $2.403/MMBtu.
Precious metals rose as they tend to do in a flight to safety. June gold futures broke out to a four-month high, settling the session $16.90 higher (+1.3%) at $1322.70/oz. July silver settled $0.173 higher (+1.2%) at $14.74/oz.

Crypto

After seeing a short recovery attempt yesterday, crypto markets have seen another negative correction, with most of the 20 major coins in the red.

Bitcoin as the Ultimate Haven from Hyperinflation: A Country By Country Analysis Of Worldwide Fiat Currency Inflation

Bitcoin as the Ultimate Haven from Hyperinflation: A Country By Country Analysis Of Worldwide Fiat Currency Inflation
https://cryptoiq.co/bitcoin-as-the-ultimate-haven-from-hyperinflation-a-country-by-country-analysis-of-worldwide-fiat-currency-inflation/
Bitcoin was created during the Great Recession that started in 2008, when the governments of the world printed trillions of dollars to bail out banks and corporations. Satoshi Nakamoto intended Bitcoin to be a decentralized form of money that could not be printed by governments at will. In the the Genesis Block Satoshi included the message “The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of the second bailout for banks.”
Fiat currencies continue to be the dominant form of global currency, but it seems logical that, if fiat currencies were to hyperinflate and collapse, Bitcoin would become the dominant global currency.
This is because Bitcoin can be sent instantly anywhere in the world and is cryptographically secure. It is easy enough to integrate Bitcoin into any e-commerce store or physical store, and the customers of the future will be able to send Bitcoin from their smartphones via QR codes. Therefore, if fiat currency becomes obsolete, Bitcoin could seamlessly take its place and keep the global economy running.
There has been plenty of hype that fiat currencies are collapsing, but this article will explore the current state of major fiat currencies in the world to ascertain the true situation. This is important information since the rate of fiat currency inflation by country is an important factor that will determine Bitcoin adoption rates and ultimately Bitcoin’s price.
United States’ Inflation Rate
The United States is perhaps the best place to start an analysis of global fiat inflation, since the USD is the world’s dominant fiat currency and perhaps the most stable long term. That being said, there is 2-3 percent annual inflation in the United States.
If we split the difference at a 2.5 percent annual inflation rate, it means $100,000 stored in a bank will lose a whopping $22,400 of value over the course of 10 years, corresponding to 22.4 percent inflation per 10 years. Therefore, even in the United States, saving money long term seems impractical, and this essentially forces people to risk their savings by investing in the hopes that the money earned from investing will outpace inflation.
It appears inflation will only worsen in the United States since the national debt is approaching $22 trillion, with a budget deficit of $1 trillion per year and growing. This situation will likely lead to increased money printing, which would increase the inflation rate. Therefore, saving money in USD long term does not make financial sense. Bitcoin is an alternative way to store money long term, although Bitcoin has yet to mature and can be extremely volatile from year to year.
Euro (EUR) Inflation Rate Is 37.5 percent Relative To USD During The Last 10 Years
One of the primary global currencies besides the USD is the Euro (EUR). For the rest of this global analysis, fiat currencies will be compared to the USD exchange rate to determine inflation, but it must be kept in mind that the USD itself is inflating at the rate of 2 to 3 percent per year.
When the EUR launched in 1999, the exchange rate was one USD per 0.85 EUR. By 2002 the EUR weakened to 1.16 EUR per USD. The EUR then entered a period of vigorous strengthening, and the exchange rate fell to 0.64 EUR per USD by 2008. The Great Recession caused the EUR to begin weakening versus the USD long term, and currently each USD is worth 0.88 EUR. This represents 37.5 percent inflation relative to the USD in roughly 10 years.
Back to the storing money in a bank analogy, $100,000 of EUR stored over the past 10 years would have lost the EUR inflation rate + the USD inflation rate. With this sort of inflation rate it seems dangerous to store money in EUR long term.
It gets worse. The EUR is one of the top global fiat currencies, and there are many currencies doing worse than the EUR.
United Kingdom’s Pound Has 65 Percent Inflation Relative to USD in 11 Years
The United Kingdom (UK) is one of nine European Union (EU) countries that does not use the EUR, and eventually, the UK will leave the EU via the Brexit. However, the native Great Britain Pound (GBP) has done far worse than the Euro, with the exchange rate going from 0.48 GBP per USD in 2007 to 0.79 GBP per USD currently. This is 65 percent inflation relative to the USD during the past 11 years.
Canada’s Inflation Rate Is 45.2 Percent Relative to USD During the Last 7 Years
The United States’ neighbor to the north is similar to the United States in many respects. It is a fully developed and industrialized first world country. However the native fiat currency, the Canadian Dollar (CAD), has been experiencing severe inflation since the Great Recession. In 2011 1 USD was worth 0.95 CAD, and now the exchange rate is 1.36 CAD per USD. This represents 43.2 percent inflation relative to the USD since 2011, and of course, the USD has an underlying inflation rate as well of 16.2 percent during the last 7 years.
Even in the first world country of Canada, it is becoming impossible to save cash for retirement or even for short-term goals like buying a house, forcing people to invest in the risky stock market.
Mexico’s Inflation Rate Is 97.6 Percent Relative to the USD During Past 10 Years
Since the 2008 financial crisis, the exchange rate of the Mexican Peso (MXN) has gone from 10.12 MXN per USD to 20 MXN per USD. This represents 97.6 percent inflation relative to the USD, and USD inflation means the true Mexican inflation rate is well over 100 percent per 10 years. This sort of inflation rate ensures that people have to work their entire lives and can never retire, and overall, this sort of inflation can cause the entire economy of Mexico to struggle. Bitcoin seems like an obvious alternative to holding MXN long term.
It is quite shocking that a country bordering the United States has such high inflation, yet the mainstream media never mentions it.
Russia Has 194 Percent Inflation Relative to USD Since the 2008 Great Recession
Russia is a global superpower, with a gross domestic product (GDP) of $1.58 trillion versus the United States’ $19.39 trillion GDP. Despite being a superpower, the native currency of Russia, the Russian Ruble (RUB), has gone from 23.48 RUB per USD in 2008 to 69.08 RUB per USD currently. This yields a 194 percent 10 year inflation rate relative to the USD. Clearly, the Great Recession that started in 2008 is a common point when fiat inflation accelerated in many countries around the world.
Japan’s Inflation Rate Is 46 Percent Relative to USD Over the Past 7 Years
Japan is a first-world country and has one of the most important stock markets in the world. The GDP of Japan is ranked number three in the world at nearly $5 trillion. However, its inflation rate is far higher than the United States, at least since 2011. In 2011, the exchange rate was 76 JPY per USD, but it has now risen to 111 JPY per USD, a 46 percent inflation rate relative to the USD over the past 7 years. This is actually almost exactly the same as Canada’s inflation rate.
China’s Inflation Is Only 14.4 Percent Relative to USD Since 2013, but China Tightly Controls the CNY
China is the second ranking economy in the world with a $12 trillion GDP. Its position as the number one trading partner of the United States gives it power to manipulate the exchange rate of its native currency the Chinese Yuan (CNY). The CNY actually strengthened greatly versus the USD until 2013, when China relaxed its control over the CNY exchange rate to make it more competitive in the global import and export markets. Chinese control over the CNY and therefore, control over the profitability of Chinese imports, is a primary reason for the “trade war” between China and the United States.
Since allowing the CNY to lose value relative to the USD, the exchange rate has gone from 6.04 CNY per USD in 2013 to 6.91 CNY per USD currently, a 14.4 percent inflation relative to the USD in 5 years. China is an outlier and has one of the lowest inflation rates relative to the USD.
Switzerland Has One Of The Lowest Inflation Rates At Less Than 5 percent Relative To The USD In 7 Years
Switzerland has remained independent of the European Union and does not use the EUR. Instead, it uses the Swiss Franc (CHF). The CHF actually strengthened greatly relative to the USD during the Great Recession, but the trend reversed in 2011. There was a rapid devaluation of the CHF relative to the USD from 0.76 CHF per USD to 0.94 CHF per USD during 2011. In The 7 years since then, the CHF has roughly five percent inflation relative to the USD and sits at 0.99 CHF per USD currently.
That being said, it cannot be forgotten that the USD itself is experiencing 2.5 percent inflation per year, so even countries that have low inflation rates relative to the USD have a significant inflation rate overall.
India Has Seen 79 Percent Inflation Relative to USD Since the Great Recession Began
India has the sixth highest GDP in the world at $2.6 trillion, and the second highest population at 1.34 billion. Since the Great Recession began, the Indian Rupee (INR) has gone from 39.18 per USD to 70.14 INR per USD, a 79 percent inflation relative to the USD in 11 years. Unfortunately, India is slowly making Bitcoin more illegal and could fully outlaw it, so citizens may have to break the law in the future in the event that inflation accelerates and Bitcoin becomes a preferred way to store money.
Indonesia Has 76 Percent Inflation Relative to the USD in Seven Years
Indonesia has a population of 265 million, not far behind the United States, but its GDP is 20 times less than the United States at $1 trillion. Part of the reason Indonesia’s economy is weaker may be that the native fiat currency, the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) has gone from 8,250 per USD in 2011 to 14,550 IDR per USD currently. This is 76 percent inflation relative to the USD in 7 years, around the same rate as India. However, Indonesia has banned Bitcoin as of 2018, which would make it difficult for citizens to use Bitcoin in the event inflation spirals out of control.
Brazil Has 152 percent Inflation Relative To USD In Past Seven Years, Despite Being the Strongest Economy In South America
Brazil has the most powerful economy in South America with a $2 trillion GDP. However, South America as a whole is experiencing out of control hyperinflation, and Brazil seems to be feeling the effects. The Brazilian Real (BRL) has gone from 1.55 per USD in 2011 to 3.91 BRL per USD currently. This is 152 percent inflation relative to the USD in 7 years. There does not appear to be any inflation safe haven in South America, and this could make South America a Bitcoin adoption hotspot.
Venezuela Has Ridiculous Inflation Around One million percent Per Year; Bolivar Collapsing
The end game of fiat currency inflation, if left unchecked, is currency collapse. A classic example of currency collapse is the situation in Venezuela, where the Cafe Con Leche Index suggests 400,000 percent inflation per year, although if a shorter term average is used it is 1 million percent per year or more. It would be shocking if the native fiat currency of Venezuela, the Sovereign Bolivar (VES), is still usable one year from now. Bitcoin is legal in Venezuela, and there is plenty of news which indicates people are abandoning the VES for Bitcoin.
South Korea Has Zero Inflation Relative to the USD
South Korea is considered a powerful economy relative to most of the world, with a GDP of $1.5 trillion despite the country’s small size. The South Korean Won (SKW) has essentially zero inflation relative to the USD long term aside from an exchange rate shock during the 2008 Great Recession. That being said, inflation is still a reality in South Korea since the USD has average inflation of 2.5 percent per year.
Australia Has 53 Percent Inflation Relative to the USD in Seven Years
Australia essentially has a continent to itself, but it is not isolated from the global fiat inflation crisis. The AUD actually strengthened massively versus the USD from 2001 to 2011. However, the trend reversed, and the exchange rate has gone from 0.93 AUD per USD in 2011 to 1.42 AUD per USD currently. This is 53 percent inflation relative to the USD in seven years.
Israel Has Zero Inflation Relative To USD Long Term
Israel is in the Middle East but does not have strong connections to the economy of the rest of the Middle East and, apparently, a different monetary policy than most of the rest of the world. Israel is only comparable to the United States, South Korea, and perhaps Switzerland when it comes to fiat currency since the Israeli New Shekel (ILS) has practically zero inflation relative to the USD long term although there are shorter term oscillations. Like the other countries listed with zero USD relative inflation, inflation still exists because the USD itself is inflating.
In total, there are 180 fiat currencies in the world, and here, we’re covering just 16 of them. We could keep going, but the trend is already clear. Even in major countries with powerful economies, inflation has become a serious issue, with some major countries experiencing 50-200 percent inflation relative to the USD over the past decade, and those numbers don’t even take in the 2.5 percent per year USD inflation underlying them.
It is possible that worldwide fiat inflation will accelerate due to the growing global debt crisis. That’s especially true if an economic recession occurs since that would force a rapid increase in money printing.
So we’re in a global situation that needs to be actively monitored. Even if the status quo is maintained long term, most of the world’s population cannot realistically save money for the future because it’s going to lose value over time. This is a major shift from our parents’ generation when saving money was the smart thing to do.
The good news is Bitcoin is waiting on the sidelines. It’s ready to become the global currency if fiat currency collapses worldwide. Even if fiat does not totally collapse, perhaps once Bitcoin matures and becomes more stable, it will be a good option for saving money long term since its value is independent of fiat inflation.

How to get more economic activity on-chain. (Brainstorm)

I been thinking a lot about this so I thought it'd be good to make a post about it to see what everyone is thinking.
Firstly, I know there's a lot of cool gadgets and wallets coming out like the amazing Ka-ching card, the hivr and handcash wallets etc. all aimed at consumer to business interactions and "grandma can use it" type scenarios. This is of course awesome and needed to kick start usage in countries that could make use of a stable currency with all the modern conveniences we enjoy in countries with decent banking systems and stable(for now) fiat.
If you expect the US, Europe or Japan to magically convert to a crypto currency just because of contactless payments you're deluded, it's not needed.
There's one big piece missing in this puzzle - who will BUY the commodities/goods offered from countries that need a solid currency and banking system? All the apps and gadgets in the world mean nothing if there's no actual money flowing into those economies.
What we need is a way to get SV flowing into Africa, South America, Central America, Southeast Asia by the billions/USD. The only way to do that is to buy copious amounts of product from those countries with SV which will be gradually exchanged for the local currency and distributed among the population.
The only way I see this being possible is setting up import-forwarding businesses in every large city all over the planet. CSW talks about rare earth minerals being the key to Rwanda's future wealth. OKAY, somebody needs to find a way to buy rare earth minerals from a Rwandan company and sell them in their home country. Do the remittance via SV. Boom. Potentially $1 billion of Bitcoins flowing into Africa every year.
Now do it with oil. Farm products(coffee!). Anything these countries can export, get it flowing. Why isn't there a company importing avocados from Mexico and Peru via Bitcoin?
Then, when exchanges in the exporting countries are flooded with liquidity the arbitrage between pesos and dollars(for example) will ramp up txns on chain, velocity will actually get moving, then we'll have a real currency.
I don't really see another way. If I were a big whale I'd start setting up an operation myself.

ILPT: Got tons of cash to launder and not sure how? Use cryptocurrencies this way.

Let's assume you've got a ton of cash that you don't want to report for whatever reason. In order to spend that cash on anything more than gas or groceries you're gonna need a way to launder it or give that cash a story. There are a ton of ways to do this but none that are untraceable...most money laundering schemes come with a ton of risk. But if I were properly motivated, this is how I'd do it.
First I'd create a private trust. No need to understand how private trusts work in this thread, just know that they exist in a jurisdiction foreign to the US or whatever statutory jurisdiction you exist in. Then have that trust create a public LLC in a state that allows for private member owned LLC such as New Mexico. Literally all that is recorded is the name of the trust on the articles of organization for the LLC. So ABC Trust is the member of the LLC. The members of the trust are private and unknown.
Now the LLC needs to be a legitimate cash business that wont draw any suspicion and impossible to audit. And ideally we want to convert all of our cash into cryptocurrencies. Unlike most money laundering schemes that hope to pay taxes and deposit cash into a bank. Cryptocurrencies are superior to cash in a bank for many reasons, but I'll only touch on a few here.
So the LLC creates an online peer to peer exchange. It's important that the LLC never actually touches the money because if it does then the exchange would be considered a money changing business and needs to comply with KYC and AML laws. We don't want that. So instead we set up an escrow wallet service that is nothing more than a smart self executing contract. Its computer code that executes when conditions are met. That's it. Peers come to the site to find other peers to trade with. These p2p exchanges already exist like localbitcoins.com for example.
Here's how they work. I have cash or gift cards or some other form of money and I want to buy bitcoin. You've got bitcoin and want cash. So you send your BTC to an escrow wallet on the p2p exchange. This escrow wallet wont release the funds until all parties sign. The buyer and the seller and the exchange must all sign with their private keys to send the money out of the wallet. So once your BTC is locked in the wallet, we meet up and exchange cash, or I send you the gift cards or whatever payment method we agree. Once you get the cash, you sign to verify you recieved the cash. Once I send the money, I sign to verify payment was sent. If there are no disputes between the parties then the exchange signs and the BTC is sent to my personal wallet. Easy peasy. And since the exchange never actually has control of the BTC or the cash, they don't require any knowledge of the trading parties. Just 2 anonymous characters. Now in order to not attract a lot of unwanted attention, its important to set buy limits. Even those we aren't regulated as a money changing business we don't want to allow million dollar transactions without any kind of KYC... so we comply with the $1,000 limit per day.
Now once the seller has cash they can spend it or deposit it into their bank or do whatever. Once I have BTC now I can do pretty much anything I want. First BTC is a transparent blockchain so I've got one more step to make this truly anonymous and untraceable. I'll send that BTC to an unverified crypto exchange account on Bitfinex or Binance or any number of other exchanges and I'll use that BTC to buy Monero. I wont explain how Monero (XMR) works here but trust me, it uses fancy cryptography to make it truly untraceable. There's no trail to follow. No XMR can be linked to any other party ever. So once I have XMR I can send it to any private wallet I want and no one will ever know I've got millions worth of XMR. It's as if the money disappears. If I ever want to spend it, I try to pay directly with XMR fir whatever. But if the vendor doesn't accept XMR then I simply send that XMR back to the exchange and trade it for BTC. Or I send it to my verified exchange account linked to my bank and I trade it directly for USD. I'll pay a capital gains tax on that single transaction vs paying gains on my millions.
So in order to do this at scale with our own p2p exchange LLC we need to create a dozen fake anonymous accounts all making small random trades to other legitimate sellers of BTC. Once we have gotten rid of all of our cash and now have BTC we funnel those BTC to dozens of unverified exchange accounts and wash them with XMR. Then send those XMR to our final destination wallet that no one knows about. When we want to spend it some amount, we simply funnel the XMR back into a verified and legitimate account and pay the tax on that individual transaction. Or we go back to our p2p exchange and get cash back.
That's it. That's how you hide millions of dollars without a trace. Of course I've left out a few details like how to spoof your IP address and use things like VPNs and Tor to truly access the exchange site anonymously, and you'll need to do this since you will be the one creating dozens of accounts on the exchange. Each account needs it's own IP address to appear legitimate to anyone who gets wise and wants to look closer. Other than that, you've now got millions of dollars in your pocket you can walk across any border anywhere in the world with.

ZHANG Xiaojun, the director of the Huawei blockchain project, shared his opinions on the current development of blockchain in a recent interview. When talking about the obstacles faced by the blockchain in terms of the wide application, ZHANG pointed out four points. Firstly, users hope to increase revenue through blockchain, while the technology itself is to reduce operating cost; secondly, the security of blockchain technology is still insufficient, which may lead to new security risks in the application; thirdly, the shortage of cross-chain standards brings difficulties in the large commercial application of blockchain; lastly, blockchain is becoming an isolated island, which makes POC possible but blocks it to be commercialized. What Huawei faces is the first obstacle, according to ZHANG. He said the company intends to provide customers with a clear value demonstration for blockchain, which will help sweep aside customers’ concerns and enlarge their commercial application layout.Besides, regarding opportunities brought by 5G to blockchain, he stated that the blockchain technology would not only be deployed in the core cloud but also the edge cloud. And 5G can meet demands of large bandwidth and low latency for the edge cloud blockchain in the case of large commercial use.
China Launches A Blockchain-Based Identification System For Smart CitiesChina has launched a blockchain-based identification system for smart cities, aimed at better connectivity and data sharing between these cities. The system has been developed by three institutes in the city of Shijiazhuang and will assign a unique, global digital ID to nationwide smart cities, Global Times reported on Nov. 4, citing state-run Xinhua News Agency.ZHANG Chao, director of the Zhongguancun Industry & Information Research Institute of Two-dimensional Code Technology, one of the developers of the blockchain-based ID system, said that the system was self-developed by China and will be “independently distributed and managed by China, with a unified distribution rule, a resolution of distributed storage and tamper-resistant code.”

DAppTotal: Airdrop Of EIDOS Is A Disaster, Top Player May Profit Over Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars Citing data by DAppTotal, ever since EIDOS launched the airdrop event, the number of its 24h active users has reached 1,260, that of its 24h transactions has surpassed 1.89 million, and its 24h trading volume has registered 1,770 EOS. Such popularity has never been seen in any other EOS DApps, according to DAppTotal. Blockchain security firm PeckShield revealed that the airdrop event of EIDOS led to the price surge of CPU, which means normal EOS transactions between users could fail and most of the users are not able to play with gaming DApps under a congested EOS network. As reported by CoinNess.com earlier, the current CPU price for 1 EOS is 0.0001 EOS. Two days ago, however, one could use 1 EOS to rent 3,600 EOS for 30 days. This indicates an increase of more than 16 times because of the EIDOS hype. DAppTotal researchers found that as of now, players have made 35.83 million transactions, containing 3.39 million EIDOS tokens, to the account ‘eidosonecoin,’ 95% of which had only 0.0001 EOS sent. If a user sold all of the EIDOS tokens at peak prices, his or her earnings could be more than tens of thousands of dollars. It is really harmful to the EOS ecosystem, said the researchers.
At Least 23k Emails Leaked By BitMEX, Claims Research Director At The Block Larry Cermak, Director of Research at The Block, tweeted, “I now have access to 23,000 emails that were leaked by BitMEX. Surprisingly, there is only one person that used a .gov email. There were 66 students/alumni that used .edu email. NYU dominates (7 people), followed by Berkley, and University of Michigan.” BitMEX has previously made a response to the leaked email address in its blog post, saying that in this instance, beyond email addresses, no other personal data or account information has been disclosed and no further emails have been sent. “The error which has caused this has been identified and fixed, ensuring our usual high standards of privacy are upheld,” the company claimed.
Chinese VC Firms Returning To Blockchain, $368M Raised In H1, 2019 By Blockchain Startups Chinese venture capital firms are taking another look at blockchain. After the 2018 crypto crash, up to 90 percent of blockchain-focused VCs left the market. Now, as China’s central government pushes for greater blockchain adoption, some are returning. During the first six months in 2019, Chinese blockchain startups raised $368 million via 71 funding deals, according to Chinese financial data tracker 01Caijing.

A swing low was formed near $8,960 and the price recently started an upward move. There was a break above the $8,100 and $8,200 resistance levels to start a decent increase.
More importantly, there was a break above a key contracting triangle with resistance near $9,240 on the 4-hours chart of the BTC/USD pair. At the moment, the price is trading near the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $10,584 high to $8,960 low.

Malta Financial Services Authority prompts Bitcoin Future to be at risk of fraudThe Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has recognized an entity called Bitcoin Future. The entity appears to exhibit the same deceptive characteristics as another entity, Bitcoin Revolution. The MFSA had previously issued a public warning on January 25, 2019 and August 29, 2019 at Bitcoin Revolution. Bitcoin Future is not a registered company in Malta, nor is it an entity operating under the provisional provisions of Section 62 of the Virtual Financial Assets Act, nor is it authorized to provide any financial services in Malta. In addition, the information obtained by the MFSA indicates that Bitcoin Future may be an international “fast get rich” cryptocurrency scam. Therefore, the public should avoid any business or transaction with an entity operating under the above name.
